English Teacher
The High School English Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and standards-aligned instruction in literature, writing, grammar, and critical thinking to students in grades 9–12. This role requires strong communication skills, classroom management, and a passion for literature and language arts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver lessons that align with the school curriculum and state standards.
- Teach various genres of literature, including novels, poetry, drama, and nonfiction.
- Instruct students in grammar, composition, vocabulary, and research skills.
- Foster critical thinking, discussion, and analysis of texts through class activities and assignments.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, tests, and projects.
- Provide timely feedback and maintain accurate records of grades and student progress.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Create a respectful, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school administrators.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Valid teaching certification for secondary English Language Arts.
- Strong understanding of literary analysis, writing instruction, and classroom management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for literature, language, and student development.
